Breaking Syria 6.9AM 6/17/16

Russsian defense minister Announced the killing of Russian soldier Mikhail Shirokopoyase killed near Palmyria by IS.

this would be 10th casualty. Russian soldier has died from wounds sustained during combat in Syria, in the ninth military fatality since Vladimir Putin launched an intervention in the country’s civil war in September. Anton Yerygin, a 31 year old signaller from Voronezh, was seriously wounded after coming under fire in Homs province, the ministry of defence in Moscow said on Thursday. He died of his wounds in hospital two days after the attack, the ministry said. While the ministry did not give a date of death, relatives told Russian agencies that Mr Yerygin was wounded by a sniper while laying telephone wires near Palmyra and died on May 7.

Syrian activist reporting heavy coalition air strikes reported on manbij as kurdish syrian democratic forces tighten nose on town.

The Syria Democratic Forces, supported by U.S.-led air strikes and American special forces, launched and advance last week to seize Islamic State's last territory on the Syria-Turkey border and cut the self-declared caliphate off from the world.

Other enemies of Islamic State, including the governments of Syria and Iraq, also launched major offensives on other fronts, in what amounts to the most sustained pressure on the militants since they proclaimed their caliphate in 2014.

 Democratic People's Party's (PYD) armed People's Protection Units (YPG) has suffered heavy daily losses in the U.S.-backed Manbij operation, which, according to the U.S., is being carried out by Arab-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
